I am very particular about my hair and was consistently disappointed with numerous hack barbershops around town -- until I finally "found home" with A&D. It's not just another barbershop - it's an experience. The shop is classically masculine, refined and the barbers are all top notch.
The barbers are welcoming and professional. They understand hair and they take their time to cut it right. Regardless of your style or hair type, they use all manner of scissors, razors, electric shavers and straightedges to clean you up right.
Each haircut includes everything a guy wants/needs to look his best like: a cold beverage, hot towels, hot lather straightedge shaves to keep your neck tidy and clean, hot and cold towel treatments, and the whole experience is topped off with a relaxing hand massage.
If you're in the mood to indulge yourself (I do this for myself once a month), go for the full treatment including a cooling mint facial, shave, shampoo and a near orgasmic scalp massage.
Last summer the pizza joint next door caught fire and the adjoining businesses were forced to close for renovations. Just like our city's namesake, A&D has risen, like a Phoenix from the flames to once again provide the best darn male grooming services in the city.
I've been to the cheap-o $8 barbers and I've overpaid at other so-called "male salons" in the city -- no one compares to A&D for the overall experience and value. You will walk out with the freshest haircut and feeling like you're on top of the world!
I am a traditionalist when it comes to a haircut. I typically shave my head so I tend to avoid uber-expensive salons. Exploring my new neighborhood, I discovered this gem in a bleak looking shopping plaza. The interior was pristine with granite counter tops and several flat screen TV's with various sport channels playing, (guess you can't have it all). Spartak (what-a-name!) was delightful. I figured he was the son of the owner as he couldn't have been a day over 21. I was a bit tentative until seeing his Arizona Barber's License proudly framed and displayed in his work station. Spartak was friendly, polite and precise. I love the old school barber shops because of their attention to detail (hot foam, razor sharp shave, hot towel and mini massage, hello?!). I will gladly pay $20 plus tip for this type of experience. Well done A&D!
