So 12.5 months ago I sold my dream car, a Porsche 911, to downsize/reduce costs and quite honestly, I didn't/don't drive it that much (I work from home), I figured I'd get the most value for the vehicle.
Consequently, I leased a very average American car, it has a very low monthly lease payment and I figured my car registration would be significantly less money too.
Man, whatever, not even the case.....
The 911 cost me $452.50 to register for 12 months. Outrageous, but I expected it, it's a Porsche and such is life. I thought my very average American lease car would be "reasonable" to register for 12 months. Well, I just checked my mail this morning, and it's going to cost me $368.13 for 12 months. That seems a lot to me. I went on ADOT's site and I understand their "formula", but that doesn't make it any better.....I suspect they raised the cost/percentage....again.
I realize that Phoenix Metro still needs to build roads (so we can be a shittier version of LA) and my registration fee is to pay for the ever expanding blacktop sprawl, but come on. The value of my "very average American car" is half of my old vehicle, yet the cost structure is only slightly less to register....
A big fuck you to ADOT's MVD....
FWIW, NY which might just be the biggest rip-off state in the union, it would cost me $50-$75 to register a Bentley, let alone a "very average American vehicle".
I've have Pat work on the machines in my office. He is very pleasant, punctual and tells me the TRUTH on what is going on with the machine. I recommend him if you want honest answers and reasonable ... Buzzed for: The Computer Guy
