We are all human, we are not perfect, and we will never be perfect. Unfortunately, as long as we walk on this planet, mistakes, tragedies, and disasters will continue to happen.

What's most important is that our mistakes are handled appropriately and that we learn from them. From everything I've seen in the media about this latest catastrophe,

Maple Leaf Foods is doing the best they can under very difficult circumstances. My heart goes out to them as well as to the affected families!

I am so impressed with Michael McCain for the way he has taken responsibility for what has happened. Like he said, the company has been serving us for a 100 years, so I hope this doesn't hurt them, no matter what anyone says, there is something that they produce that we all grew up on and loved. I feel so bad for the people affected and I can imagine the law suits that are going to come out of this. I hope it doesn't flatten the company because they would be missed.

Ok lets not carry away here and look at it from this perspective;

Canada has an enviable record of food & water inspection but as the incidents @ WALKERTON Ont & the MAPLE LEAF plant show it is not perfect & the inspection process is only as good as the inspectors, their training & supervision.

If they lack the honesty & ethics to do the job, are poorly trained & supervised or if there are too few inspectors & slack work is allowed, disasters WILL happen.

Even in well-run plants there is the possibility of contamination. Cutbacks to inspection is dangerous.

Does history have to keep repeating it's self..How many times must people die, at the hands of these incompetent inspectors, or the person in charge, and our government for allowing this to carry on; Especially when it comes to dealing with the food chain.

Sorry isn't good enough after the 104Th time!!!

I wonder what it takes, until they finally realize that enough is enough; When a government member, movie star, or higher up person is effected, and or is dead? Hmm

This is bull, some of you guys are dumwit or are on crack. Look at there Annual Report. It was all about increasing profits lately. This was bound to happen when they tried to increase profits instead of focusing on quality safe products for the consummer.

Sounds like they just wanted to keep the machines running and cleaning between product runs was just not economically profitable.

Why shut everything done to clean between making bologna, turkey, chicken, etc. when you can clean just once a week. Probably saved hundreds of production hours a week.

This is awful when the bigest food manufacturing in North America ,produced Listeria together with food and sold them to poor people who wanted to have a light dinner or lunch. people please for God sake never and ever eat any Cold meat or cold food products because bacteries growing fast in cold food. Just try to cook yourself or buy the hot food to eat.

my family and I have been camping for the last 16 days.. cut our trip a day short cause 2 of us weren't feeling too well...so we knew nothing of this till we returned home last night.. with some unopened recalled products..we ate bacon, sausages, deli turkey, ham.. everything in the last 2 weeks.. I called MapleLeaf's hot line and they offered to send 2 - 5.00 off coupons....lol....yeah right... would I buy again. not for along time!!!
