I recently purchased this DVD player to go along with the disney TV that was bought by my daughters dad, so far i think it's a great product, don't have any problems with it, and my daughter loves how the cute wandlike remote control lights up everytime she uses it.
It's very noisy and the remote control can be hard to use and doesn't have as many controls as I'd like. It's perfectly fine for a little kid though. :/
We just bought a brand new Disney Princess TV to go along with a brand new dvd player. They do not work at all together or seperate. They both power on but do compat with each other. This is a TOTAL Waste of MONEY & TIME. DO NOT BUY NO MATTER HOW GOOD A PRICE.
Well we purchased this tv and dvd player. The remote to the tv no longer works and we can't get a code to program a universal remote to it. This is a huge pain. We are back in the stone ages of having to manually turn the tv on. The dvd player makes a lot of noise and never keeps its settings. Each time we start a movie we have to go through all the settings to get rid of subtitles. Its a frustrating product to say the least and even though ours still works we aren't happy at all with the purchase and will eventually get rid of it.
BUYER BEWARE!!!! If you purchase this TV/DVD (Princess) the DVD player will stop working on you and then it's past the 90 day mark so you can no longer exchange or return it to the store. So you call Starlite Marketing Limited and THEY REFUSE AND IGNORE YOUR CALLS and therefore you are stuck with a machine that half of it no longer works and is 6months old. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY PEOPLE!!!!!!
I too purchased this DVD player with the tv and it lasted maybe 8 months. Our DVD's kept getting stuck and the DVD door would jam. It also made loud noises. I am also looking for a pink DVD player to match the pink TV. You would think if anyone Disney would have a quality product. It's unfortunate.
my two daughters received for xmas from a family friend. had nothing but problems with it playing from the beginning and then it just stopped working not even three months. [...], so now i have a broken player that cannot be used and its a shame that there are soooo many people unhappy. the manufacturer should do a recall on this product.
we purchased it for christmas as a gift for my daughter with the matching tv. the tv still works but the dvd player stopped working after several months and like you other mothers it made a loud noise like the motor was messed up. along with that the movie got stuck inside of the dvd player and that was it, we trashed it. now i am in search of a pink dvd player to match the princess tv that still works.
It's a piece of junk. We'll I guess I should be happy, mine lasted 9 months. Just like everyone else explained, it [*], the dvd gets stuck and you can't even eject the dvd. While it was working it always made a loud noise. I also purchased the CD Jewelry Boom Box and it too was a piece of junk. Stopped working in a matter of 4 months. I don't think I'll be buying anymore of these disney electronics.
My daughter received this item as a gift last christmas, when it worked it made loud noises. A month after using this product it completely stop working. If you buy this DvD player you'll just be giving your money away!
I brought this product 3 years ago. I started having problems in the 3rd year. I tried calling the 800 number on the unit but got the run around. I decided to trash it with my daughters dvd stuck in it. Don't buy. Disney needs to have a warranty on this item.
Has parental controls in place that you can't control. It won't play all DVD's unless you go online and pay a "one time" fee of 29.95 to activate TVGuardian in order to disable the parental control to play a DVD. Which defeats the control of the "parent" It is almost a bait and switch issue. It is also very loud and the remote is complicated for an adult much less a child. The ONLY good thing about this and the only reason it even sells is they are playing on a innocent child desire to be a princess. SHAME ON YOU!!! BUT... I guess who are the suckers???? the parents who love the princesses.
Actually, I purchased this DVD player about almost 9 months ago, and my daughter has been using it constantly for about 2 months and it is GONE!!!!! Since my purchase, it has always had a loud noise (motor) when you turn it on. It seemed as though you could hear EVERY moving part inside. Now, the motor seems to be burned out. It will not turn off, on, open, close NOTHING! Please don't waste the money. It is cute for a little girls room, but that is all, just cute.
I would strongly advise that you do not purchase this product. My daughter received the t.v. and dvd player as a birthday gift. The dvd player has never worked consistently. I, also, noticed the loud noise that the player makes even when not in use. The only way I could get it to stop was to completely unplug the unit. I have tried to return this item as well and have not been able to. Apparently, they are remaking these items as one unit- t.v. and dvd player in one,so the seperate player make become completely obsolete. Trust me do not purchase, unless you have the money to waste and don't mind having a disappointed child.
As for the rating of 1 star, that was the lowest I could go. This DVD player NEVER worked properly. It would play the movie, but we never got any sound. So I went out and purchased an S-video cable, thinking that it was missing cable, that didn't correct the problem. The noise while it was reading was sooo loud, it was ridiculous. I tried to return it to Toys R Us and they would not allow me to. So I'm STUCK with this JUNK!!!
Got this for my daughter for x-mas and 2 months after it [*]. It takes forever to load then finally displays a question mark. She cannot play any of the hundreds of DVDs we purchased for her on this piece of junk!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
This was a gift for my 4 year old for her birthday. It started giving us problems 1 month after purchase. It makes a really loud noise while loading takes forever to load, doesnt play all dvds, had some kind of parental lock that I could not unlock even though I didnt set it up, and the dvds it wouldnt play were rated G. We also purchased the matching TV which works fine but the matching DVD player is trash. I wish I would have learned my lesson the first time. We owned 3 of the older disney princess dvd models because of poor quality. It has been quite frustrating. You would think disney products would be good quality but this dvd player is awful. Only have had it 6 months but I am ready to throw it in the trash

I am so disgusted with the way Big Corporations treat the consume and inferior products. I Purchased an adorable item Starlite Princess DVD Player - Pink (P600D) for my child for Christmas and here it is a few months later, it is broke wont read disks (New Ones) .
1st and foremost I didn’t purchase a Starlite Princess DVD Player! I believe it was a Disney DVD player!!! I called Starlite and was told too bad it’s out of their hands and warranty; there is nothing they could do. Well there is something I can do and it may not be much but I promise I will tell everyone I know about Disney Products not really being Disney and not to support or purchase the product without doing the research. I wish someone would have told me, I would have steered clear of this one.
I did a search on this product just before writing this comment and EVER single review was NEGITIVE. Not one good review. Don’t take my word for it search yourself. I am disgusted with Disney (Not Starlite) and I am mad at myself for trusting Disney products to be worth paying the extra money … lesson learned on my part. I have a cute pink box that does noting but look cute (shaking head) what a shame.
this product is not worth the time or money. it was my daughters birthday present six months ago, and it just took a dump.. it brought so many tears to her and our eyes..please do not buy this product. it will start making noises and then frezze up on you and never work again...i dont want to see another little hurt like mine was.and disney really diappointed us with this product.
My daughter received both the Disney Princess TV and DVD player two years ago. The DVD player has stopped playing for the 5th time. I guess based on the other reviews I am lucky. I was going to purchase a replacement, after reading the reviews....I am not! Thank you everyone for saving me the money and aggravation!
This product is extremely unreliable. We recieved it as a birthday gift for my daughter and I have been calling it a curse ever since recieving it. The thing stopped reading discs the other day, although my daughter cried, I felt relieved that we would no longer have to deal with this piece of garbage. Why anyone would knowingly sell this product is beyond me and shame on Disney for having their name attached to it.
Makes noise and I am on my third and last one. Manual is poor quality and there is no web site for Starlight who makes this product. Incredible that Disney brands the TV. Aside from the noise I cannot get unrated DVD's to play because the Parental Controls, even when set to be off, still ask for a password. I am a computer person so I know I used the menus correctly. We purchased this DVD player for Christmas, and it will not play the new Barbie movies! Today, the magic wand remote control stopped working, so my girl can't fast forward or use many other DVD features. I hope to receive a replacement remote from the manufacturer, Griffin International Companies (866)387-1902 [...], whose customer service information did not appear in the consumer information book.
bought two of them and both makes funny noises when its playing i would not recommend it to anyone, people that did not have problems probably got the good and the rest is garbage. i would not recommended to any one not even an animal!!!!
I agree with everyone opinion about this product. I'm working on my 3rd dvd player also. Now that I don't have a recipit for the product I can't get a refund back from it. This is not a good product to buy because it doesn't last long, it don't play all dvd's, it takes to long for it load etc.

My oldest daughter received this DVD player and the matching TV for Christmas and what a disappointment! TV works fine but the DVD player is soooo loud that you have to have the volume up super loud on the TV to even hear the movie! Horrible product and my daughter is very disappointed!!
My daughter got this for her 2nd bday. The first few weeks it worked, but was really loud. Then it became louder and wouldn't play her DVDs. It would just spin and spin. We took it back to the store, and randomly picked out another one in exchange. THE SAME THING HAPPENED!! What do I try to do, go back to the store and try for a 3rd time???? This is a horrible product. Unbelievable. Please do not buy!!!!
My 3 year old daughter got this DVD and the matching TV for Christmas. Within a week we started having issues. Color worked fine, but the parental controls keep locking up and I have to go in to reset them. Even my 8 year old can't operate the setup because it's not at all user friendly. Now the new problem is that it keeps freezing up. I have to bang the sides like Fonzie to get it going again. I have also had to unplug the DVD player to get it going again aftr it freezes up. I also can't believe Disney would put their name on a product like this and that Toys R Us would continue to sell it! We are planning to attempt to return it, but our daughter is terribly upset, and we also no longer have the box. I am not optimistic... Wish I would have read thes reviews before we got it!
I bought my daughter the TV and DVD player for her birthday last April and I've already replaced it twice and have been putting up with this one freezing and making horrible noises for 7 months. I was very disappointed at the fact that Disney would make a product this poorly and that retailers are continuing to sell it. Especially at these prices. [...]Don't get cheated like I did.
My daughter received the tv and also the dvd player for her birthday. It took two days to figure out the tv and two calls to the help line for the dvd. The problem is that with the dvd you can not access the display button to shut off the parental control so every time you watch a movie you have to re enter the password. This is not user friendly for children. I talked with a tech at disney and was told they know of the problem and can not correct it. Offered me no help. They told me hopefully the new models they make will work but the ones they are still selling can not be fixed, they will not recall them and they can not notify anyone if a solution is found. I don't have a receipt, because it was a gift but if I did I would return it. I still can not believe that they know of this major problem and are still continuing to sell this product. Shame on disney and everyone who sells this item. I am very disappointed in Disney I thought it was a respectable safe name and can not believe that there is nothing they can do to fix this dvd player, are aware of it and yet still sell it. I am so upset that the product doesn't do what it says it does and even more upset that you knowning sell it and then when the customer calls for help it more or less too bad. Wait for the next model. What kind of operation is that? I am still in disbelieve. How can they sell a item and know that it will not work as promised and continue to sell it telling there customer well we hope the next model works.
My daughter got the princess TV & DVD player for her birthday back in July. We are now on the third DVD player and last night it quit working. I will be bringing it back to the store today for a refund but I will NOT be purchasing another one. I also agree with all of the other reviews, it takes forever to load and is very loud!
it takes forever to get a dvd to play, sometimes it doesn't even play it at all, doesn't matter if it's a new movie or not, very frusterating!!! It takes so long for it to play, by the time it starts, my 3 year old has moved on to something else!

This dvd player is terrible I bought it to replace the one that my kids broke (the previous model of the disney princess) it was noisy from the get go, worked for two weeks and now takes me unplugging it to turn it off! Not to mention it took me about five minutes to get it open so I could get our DVD back the performance of this 2 wk old DVD palyer just went down the toilet! I am definitely taking this back to the store to get a refund!
My daughter got the princess DVD player and matching T.V. for Christmas. It has worked okay until this morning, and now the DVD player will not play DVD's. It displays a question mark on the screen, so I looked in the trouble shooting section of the manual and cannot find anything to help resolve the problem. After looking at the other reviews, I am now horrified. She will be very disappointed if we have to end up returning it. I would not recommend buying this product at all.
Bought this DVD player for our daughter for Christmas. At first it only played in black and white. My husband finally got that fixed, but it was extremely noisy when it played a DVD. It worked for all of two weeks and then quit working. I'm disappointed that Disney would allow it's name to be put on such a poor product.
This product really is the cheapest quality item I have ever seen. After the TV died the first day of use- and was subsequently replaced; the DVD player that was loud to begin with only got louder. My daughter received this DVD player as a gift for her 2nd Birthday in April. It worked fine until Nov. All of a sudden..it stopped playing the DVD's. I DO NOT have the receipt and called the company and they cannot do anything without it!! Was going to repurchase another one, but after reading other peoples problems with it...I will not by this product!!!
I thought I would give this product another try and unfortunately this one has also failed. This is the second one that I have owned and I will never own another one. My daughter got this new one for Christmas (7 days ago) and already it will not play any of her dvd's. I DO NOT recommend any buy this product.
I had gotten this product as a Christmas gift for my daughter. She already has the tv so it was a perfect match until we hooked it up to work. We have been through 3 different dvd players and two of them played in black and white and the other one didn't read the dvd's. I was mad that I had to make a trip to two different stores to get the dvd players and they all don't work. My advice get a regular dvd player unless you want the princess one for looks.
I bought this for my daughter and in a matter of days it did not play DVD's, so I bought a new one from wal-mart and brought the broken one back in that box, I have done this twice and am on our 3rd DVD player. It is not my daughter breaking them, it is just cheaply made. We have the TV too, no problems with it.
My daughter just got this DVD player along with the Disney Princess TV for her birthday in September. I was not sure if we should purchase it since the old model got such awful reviews, but we decided to get it anyway. So far the DVD player has been working well. Just a few nights ago it would not play the DVD so we unplugged it and is began to play.
